Internet Marketing

Although I have been involved in Internet Marketing for some years, I must admit that I have been trying to avoid the business of “branding yourself online” for years. But recently I agreed to being a reviewer/student on what is proving to be a rather interesting and very comprehensive training course (more about that in another post). Unfortunately for me, branding yourself online is part of the training. On top of that, one of the other reviewers decided to kick my butt because I was trying to figure out how to avoid the issue. Told him he was a sweetheart, but he just growled at me.

Actually, I am rather glad that I have finally done it, because branding yourself online is probably one of the most important facets of having a successful online business. Please note that I did not say “Internet Marketing”. Internet Marketing is NOT a business. You have to create your business first and then use various Internet Marketing methods to get the sales.

GremlinsRight now though, my brain feels like a ball of cotton wool. I have far too many projects on the go and am really struggling to keep up with myself and my projects. This is not all good for productivity. When I can’t focus, my gremlins get up to all sorts of mischief, and it ends up taking twice as long to get everything completed.

Needless to say, please learn a lesson from this. Decide on what your business is going to be and then focus properly on what you are doing, otherwise you are going to hold yourself back and are unlikely to ever be successful. What I have done (am doing) is to make a list of all the projects I need to complete in order of importance. By that, I mean the ones that are going to earn me an income in the shortest possible time will need to be done first. Those tasks or projects (like making this site look more attractive) go to the end of the list.

Other than that – put blinkers on. Do not chase interesting looking WSO’s (Warrior Special Offers) or the “Next Shiny Object”. Concentrate solely on what you need to do to get your business up and running. Always remember, a business is a business, whether it is online or offline. You are going to have to work your rear end off if you want to succeed.

Do not believe all those people who tell you that you will earn loads of money within the next few hours, days or weeks. That is a load of nasty smelling, unwholesome and unhealthy poo. You are likely to lose every penny you spend on such products.

Do your homework. Research, research and then research some more before you decide on what online business you want to start up. Join the Warrior Forum if you are not already a member. If you just look, you will find plenty of information available without having to hand over your hard-earned cash. Get to know who the successful marketers are. Study them and what they do. Ignore any marketer who offers get rich quick schemes – as far as I am concerned, they have no integrity whatsoever.

Most of the posts in this blog will be related to things I am doing and or learning (you NEVER stop learning in this business). Some of the information will probably be my own rambling thoughts on various subjects from personal to business. Unfortunately, I can never let go of the personal, simply because pretty much everything I do is also related to my granddaughter who has Rett Syndrome and a percentage of what I earn goes towards her various therapies. In amongst everything will be tips that you can learn from.

Some of my posts will be long and others short, depending on my mood. I love to grumble at myself, like right now, knowing that I have taken on far more than I can chew and knowing that I don’t have anyone to help. This means I am going to need to work up to 18 hours a day for the next month or more to clear the mess I have created. Obviously I don’t have anybody to blame other than myself. So don’t you go blaming anybody for the messes you get into and don’t go round feeling sorry for yourself.

Take a deep breath and start planning properly, even if it means cutting your losses and going back to the beginning again.

Decide what your business is going to be, brand yourself online first, and don’t let the gremlins bite.
